Kidney Stone Imagery

Kidney stones, the infamous extremely painful urinary deposits that affect more than 10% of people worldwide were recently analyzed and imaged through new high-resolution microscopy techniques.  The resulting close-up images revealed glowing geode-like minerals that resemble lime-stone formation or coral reefs.  The images revealed that kidney stones formed much in the same manner the mineral formations found from the hot and salty (urine is also hot and salty) springs at Yellowstone did.
