5,000 years of history: Available online

I just recently read an article about how the MET is engaging in a program to make 406,000 digital Images available to the public. With the help of Google, it is using an API (application program interface) to upload all these images on its website.

This initiative is part of a larger effort to make art more accessible to masses. Not just parts of the population that may not have the resources to frequently visit museums ( given the steep ticket prices ), but also millennials that are spending most of there time on the internet.
