Restoration of WWI Footage

Going along with the small archival theme of our class in analyzing gentrification and historical events in Philadelphia, I recently discovered that there are efforts to clean up 100 year old World War I footage.  The restoration project requires a lot of effort not only in adding frames to make the footage play smoother, clean up blotches and defects in the footage, recolorizing the footage and recreating the sounds associated with the films.  Forensic lip readers helped recapture the spoken words.  The goal is to deliver the most accurate depiction of what a World War I soldier experienced.
